Vendor Terms and Conditions

Members of Woven Network may apply to become a vendor and host their products on the Woven website, however, acceptance will ultimately be at the discretion of the Woven Management Committee.

Products will not be hosted if viewed by the Committee as in any way damaging to the growth and/or reputation of the insects as food and feed sector. Woven also reserves the right to remove individual products from its website at any time and without justification.

Pricing & Commission

Each product will be hosted at the RRP used by each vendor so that Woven’s prices match their normal retail values. Woven incurs PayPal fees for each order made (20p + 3.4% of the total cost including shipping) and will therefore include this in its commission. A total of £1 + 9% of the product cost will be deducted to cover Woven’s commission plus PayPal fees (see examples below). Because PayPal fees include shipping costs and Woven’s percentage commission does not, this means Woven will make less in commission the greater the shipping cost, so deducting £1 + 9% allows it to mitigate this effect (in most cases).

Each vendor will receive their commission (91% – £1), along with the full cost of shipping. Commissions will be paid out on a monthly basis.

Example 1: for a product sold at £9.99 + £2.99 shipping, the vendor would receive £8.10 + £2.99 shipping = a total of £11.09. Woven receives £1.89, from which it pays 64p to PayPal, leaving Woven £1.25 (£1 + 2.5% of the product cost).

Example 2: for a product sold at £9.99 + £5.99 shipping, the vendor would receive £8.10 + £5.99 shipping = a total of £14.09. Woven receives £1.89, from which it pays 74p to PayPal, leaving Woven £1.15 (£1 + 1.5% of the product cost).

Example 3: for a product sold at £29.99 + £2.99 shipping, the vendor would receive £26.30 + £2.99 shipping = a total of £29.29. Woven receives £3.69, from which it pays £1.32 to PayPal, leaving Woven £2.37 (£1 + 4.6% of the product cost).

Example 4: for a product sold at £29.99 + £5.99 shipping, the vendor would receive £26.30 + £5.99 shipping = a total of £32.29. Woven receives £3.69, from which it pays £1.42 to PayPal, leaving Woven £2.27 (£1 + 4.2% of the product cost).

Vendor Responsibilities

Vendors are responsible for paying all applicable VAT on the total amount received from Woven. Woven will pay its share of any VAT on its commission.

Vendors will ultimately be responsible for fulfilling orders and will receive an email for each order placed. They will also be responsible for answering any customer queries which will be forwarded to a customer service email address provided by the vendor.

Once an order is received and shipped, it is also important for vendors to login to their Vendor Dashboard and mark the order as shipped. This will send a notification to the customer so that they know their order is on its way.

Vendors are obliged to keep their Vendor Dashboards up-to-date, and in particular, to provide Woven with a Paypal email address to allow for payments to be made, and to keep Woven updated with any stock issues so that Woven can adjust its stock accordingly and not be left in a position where an order cannot be fulfilled within a reasonable time-frame.

Shipping

Shipping costs are based on the country you select for your shop. Since not all of our vendors are UK-based, it is important to specify where you ship products from (the default set is UK).From this, there will be only two possible shipping rates to make things simple:

From this, there will be only two possible shipping rates to make things simple: National and International. You can change the default costs for each of these at shop level, but also on a per-product basis, both of which can be found on your Vendor Dashboard. The defaults set are £2.99 for National and £5.99 for International.

Shipping will be charged once per vendor (according to the above defaults or the vendor’s own specifications). Shipping costs will not increase if more than one product is purchased from a single vendor. Instead, the shipping cost will be taken from the product with the highest shipping cost specified by the vendor.

Mixed Orders

One of the advantages of the Woven Marketplace is that customers can purchase products from more than one vendor at once. When this happens, all vendors on the order will receive the same order email and it is then up to the vendor to ship their part of that order to the customer. Woven’s commission is calculated per vendor and each vendor will receive the full shipping cost.
