    There is actually only a very small number of insect species that are farmed. Going to China I learnt of over 300 different edible species of insects in that country alone. What would the tests be that could suggest an insect could have potential as a farmed variety? Could be useful to focus on identify some with real potential.
    I suggest they would need to have a good documented history of consumption, a rapid lifecycle, have a lifestyle that benefits from existence in large “herds”, does not have exacting temperature or other climatic requirements to thrive…
